In 1971, Elvis Presley recorded several songs from his country roots. Getting in touch with the Nashville sound. The album maintained the growing stardom that the 1968 Comeback Special and Las Vegas stints launched, starting the King on his long awaited return to touring.
Elvis Presley Enterprises and RCA re-release this album as part of his Legacy series in the multi-disc set “Elvis Country: Legacy Edition”. The disc set not only includes the songs from the original album like “Snowbird”, “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”, “The Fool” and many more. The Legacy edition also features 3 bonus tracks not recorded on the original Elvis Country album like “I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago” and “Where Did They Go, Lord”.
The Legacy set also includes a second disc titled “Love Letters From Elvis”, which was recorded a week after “Country” was recorded in 1970. This disc also holds the songs from the original album like “Love Letters”, “If I Were You” and “Make the World Go Away”. Three Bonus Tracks have been added to this volume as well featuring “The Sound of Your Cry”, “Sylvia” and “Rags To Riches”.
This was a pivotal moment in Elvis Presley’s life. He was gaining his fan base back, and in this album, his heart and soul pours out of the speakers like never before. You can tell just how comfortable he is in the studio.
“Elvis Country: Legacy Edition” will be released January 3rd of 2012 marking the 35th Anniversary of his death.
